Considered to be one of the greatest public health initiative of the 20th century, fluoride has drastically helped reduced the prevalence of dental disease. It has been proven to help minimize childhood cavities and help remineralize tooth enamel. We recommend a fluoride treatment at each cleaning appointment. Though fluoride is an important part of any good oral care routine, overconsumption can result in a condition known as fluorosis. The pediatric dentist is able to monitor fluoride levels, and check that children are receiving the appropriate amount.
If you have questions or concerns about fluoride or fluorosis, please contact our office.
